Shuffling Britton

Today was, for the most part, uneventful. School started back, work started back, and Sara Britton’s wedding is just 5 days away. I meant to do a quick blog on Friday, but per usual, got side tracked.

On Friday morning, I woke up at 5 am to feed Kenley and couldn’t fall back asleep. So I logged on and did some recruiting work until 7 am. At 7, I went for a run in my neighborhood. When I got back at 7:45, I was still in my running clothes and started a pile a laundry. Britton shuffled into our room, and looked up at me as she wiped the sleep from her eyes and said, “Mommy, it’s light outside. Did you ever go to sleep?”

Sometimes I feel like I didn’t.

I then jumped in the shower, so I could bathe and dress for the day before Kenley woke up. I threw on some jeans and a tshirt when Britton, once again, shuffled in. “Mommy” she said, “are we having company?”. Now I make a concious effort to get showered and dressed (make up and hair too) every day. When I first became a full time mom, I noticed that weeks would go by when I never toook my hair out of a ponytail and make up did not touch my face. I made a decision that I would get dressed, I mean a real-effort-to-look-somewhat-presentable-dress each day. So when Britton asked me that, it made me chuckle. As if I only put on make up for company or date night. Or do I?
