The Wig

Britton spotted a wig in the Walgreens a few weeks back and has talked of nothing else since.

Yes, you heard right.

A wig.

Not just any wig, but a banana-clip-on-long-blonde-curly-hair-extension-wig’let. She wanted it so bad, however we told her she had to do chores, save allowance and but it with HER money. Since she only makes $3/week (if she does ALL her chores- but she doesn’t like making her bed) I made a list of extra chores paying .10 each she could do. Needless to say, she was all on board and willing to do whatever it takes to buy her wig.

On Saturday morning, she had a lemonade stand. After convincing her that $4 for one cup of lemonade was bad commerce practice, she drastically reduced her pricing point to .50 per bathroom-cup-size lemonade.

As neighbors walking, biking and jogging by stopped to support our local business, one neighbor asked her, “What are you going to do with all this money you are making?”

If only you could have seen this woman’s smiling face when Britton replied, “Im buying a wig!”.

Once Britton counted her money half way through her sale and realized that she had made $16.99- she ran up the yard, threw her arms around me and said, “Mommy, give me a hug! I have enough money for my wig!”

One would have thought she won the state lottery, or been elected governor. A wig- every 6 year old girls dream.
