Mini Me Me Me

Kenley was making her bed tonight and called me back into her bedroom. Said she needed to show me “somethin’.”

She then pointed to a little pink stain and said to me– and this is no lie— “You need to put some oxy clean on dat and wash it.”

Gosh, I love this little girl.

Western Wear Day- Homecoming 2009

It’s Homecoming Week at Britton’s School and each day is a different theme. Yesterday was Pajama Day- and today was Western Day. On PJ Day, I actually forgot about it- only for Big Daddy to call me when he dropped the girls off to notify me.

This was on of those instances when I was grateful to be a ‘stay at home mom’ so I could quickly run their PJ’s up to school. Britton was SO excited that I came back with clothes – because nobody likes dressing up more than Miss Britton. She kept giving me kisses and big hugs when I arrived in her classroom. She was sitting in her little desk- right in front of the chalkboard. So cute,

When I picked her up from school on PJ Day yesterday, we started talking about the attire for western day. In the back of my mind, I was wishing that he pink cowboy boots still fit her.

She said that for Western Day she wanted to wear a jean skirt- then quickly said “Maybe Dee Dee can make it”. I laughed, thinking how Britton thought it was just so easy to sew something.

Wouldn’t you know that Dee Dee whipped it up in 30 minutes when we were at her house yesterday. Then Dee Dee really got into it by adding embroidery at the bottom, taking a size 12 skirt and turning it into a 6x, and brining 4 bandannas to my sewing class last night for B, and helping B shop for cowgirl boots.

The outfit really came together this morning, and Britton was so prouf and confident walking into school in her new high-heeled cowboy boots and jean skirt!

Day of Rest

Genesis 2
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested
from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Britton created her ‘Sunday Schedule’ to a Tee at Sunday School. The LiveBIG scripture this week was Genesis 2:1-2 which obviously addresses rest. I mean, Britton just makes me laugh.

Grandparents Day 2009

My children are so lucky to have BOTH sets of grandparents within miles of our home. Friday was Grandparents Day at their school. Each child’s class had a “performance” for their special grandparents! Thanks for coming Nana, Gan, Sassy and Pops!

Antique Beds

There is a section of this blog entitled ‘Britton–isms’ because, lets face it- she says some funny stuff.

Kenley is not far behind her these days.

The things that come out of Kenley’s mouth make me stop and
a) laugh
b) ask her to repeat because I can’t understand her dialect or
c) think, holy cow when did she learn that?!

For instance, last night as I laid on her twin bed with her reading her new book ‘Duck at the Door’ from the Book Fair- her brain started turning. Someone we started talking about her bed, which incidentally is my childhood bed (same set of twin 4 poster beds are now in her room). I told her this, then she looked over to the other twin bed in her room and ask, “Was dat bed Daddy’s den?”.

No Kenley, Mommy and Daddy didn’t know each other when we were little kids like her. She digested this for a moment.

Then she asked me if when she grows up can she be a mommy? Can she wear a bra? Can she drink beer? Can she wear long necklaces? Can she wear eye make up? Can she wear my wedding ring? And so on, and so on.

Fast forward to this evening, after a long day at preschool- including a singing performance for Grandparents Day (thank you Nana and Gan, Sassy and Pops!), she started coughing.

I asked her if she felt okay. And she said, “No, I don’t feel good. You need to call the heart doctor”.

That kid. She has a sense of humor. (And Mom- she is okay, her heart wasn’t hurting she just has the heart doctor on her mind because we were at Shands last week. Do not worry. I repeat- do not worry.)

38 pounds and three-and-a-half years old. Say it isn’t so.
