Jesse Tree

We started our Jesse Tree tonight.
Britton spent 2 hours this afternoon cutting out the ornaments, gluing them onto poster board, and then cutting them out once again. We have hole punched, and threaded grosgrain ribbon onto our dear ornaments- commencing the begging of Advent.
A Jesse Tree- was new to me. I read about through another blogger’s post. It essentially takes young children on a brief journey through the bible highlighting the true reason for the season- Jesus.
And I was right, the girls loved it! Britton read tonight’s scripture from the bible, and is learning to look up passages on her own. When I told her I would get her her very own Bible for Christmas, her eyes light up and she gasped, ‘Oh Thank you Mommy!’
Then she asked, “Can you get me own with a crown and diamond on it?”
Here was tonight’s scripture for our Family tree and newest Robinson tradition. We placed a Dove ornament on our little Target Christmas tree!
Genesis 8:15-17

“Then God said to Noah “Come out of the Ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you- the birds, the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground- so that they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it.”
