Big Dreams, Small Town

Some of the most meaningful conversations I’ve had with my children, other than at bedtime, have been in the car. Not surprising, since we spend so much time driving. Kenley was staring out her 3rd row window this afternoon when I gently asked her “what are you thinking about?”

She responded, “how many children should I have?”

I answered, “Well Kenley, how many do you want to have?”

She repeated her question, “how many do you want me to have? How many grandchildren do you want Mama?” (always a people pleaser)

The more, the merrier my sweet girl. For as long as I can remember, she has said that she wants to be a “Mommy” when she grows up. I asked her this same question once more today, and she gave me the same answer: a Mommy. When asked if she would to be anything in addition to being a Mom, she thought about it for a few seconds and said she would like to be a maid, but only when her five children are at school.

Oh, and for the record their names will be Ricardo, James, Giselle, Kristy and Krystal. She would like to have my suburban but if it’s too old by then, she wants a car like Mary Cate’s mom (a minivan) because it has a door that slides open.

It’s conversations like these that make me grateful for keeping up with this blog for the past 7 years. Because I sure would hate to forget that my first born grandson will be named Ricardo.
