A Mertastic Mother’s Day-Weekend

It should be a hyphenated holiday, Mother’s Day-Weekend, allowing us to celebrate mother’s for an entire weekend, not just one day. Sunday was spent with my babies and with a touch of pamper-ness- is that  word? Being pampered? At any rate- it was a beautiful, low-humidity and low-drama day. Got to sleep in until 8:00 am- without ever hearing Raynes wake up. I don’t know if that has ever happened. Usually we hear him on the monitor and Mike plays possum until I eventually get up..

The weekend started off with a Fairy Tale luncheon at Kenley’s elementary school. A book worms dream luncheon.

Kenley’s Fairy Tale Know Down luncheon

On Sunday we packed up early and headed down to the coast, boat in tow, for a long overdue day on the island.

Our feeble attempt at getting our 18 month-old to nap. He sat, rather stood, like this for 1 1/2 hours (pointing to ducks, calling my name, accepting sandy potato chips from sweet two year old twins) until I gave in and pulled him out to play some more. Napping is over rated at the island.

30 children running around is just too exciting for sleep.

Britton is still working on her movie script, Mertastic, and swam around in her mermaid tale all day Sunday.  Any good director needs to test out the costumes. Her creative self made it from her ‘Hip Hip’ dance recital costume from the prior evening- they are shiny leggings. She put both feet into one leg, and made a fin from a matching colored shirt. Where does she come up with this stuff?

I am really digging this 9 year old age- can she stay this way for a while longer? I fear July will be here before I know it and a double digit birthday to boot.
