This is Day 2 of a 31 day series of finding Joy Simply.  You can read each post from the series by starting HERE.
Family bibles, hymnals and prayer book– along with coffee table books for good measure

It goes without say, but starting the morning off with a cup of vanilla flavored coffee and His Word just sets the right tone for the day. Yes, this means setting my alarm clock 30 minutes earlier than what I already consider ‘early’, but this time is precious and makes popping out of bed easy in the mornings, once it became a part of my routine. Kind of like running: The more you run the more you start to crave that runner’s high. Okay, bad analogy, but you get the point.

Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

Currently I ‘m reading a brief, daily devotional titled Jesus Calling.  I downloaded it to my iPad so I can crawl onto the living room sofa, one eye open, coffee in hand and not even fool with turning on the lamps that early. You can read more about her book here. When I read my Bible (Life Application Study translation) I tend to hang out in the New Testament often reading from Matthew and Luke but I also enjoy skipping back to Psalms and Proverbs as well. Genesis is a wonderful book and great place to start.  So there you have it. It ain’t fancy, but a little chunk of time in the morning pays off big rewards all day, every day.
