The okay, bye friend

The okay, bye friend

The ability to abruptly end a phone conversation is a huge plus, in my book.  As much as I would like to sit on my back porch, drinking sweet tea (okay, I don’t actually drink tea – but you get the picture), and have an hour-long phone call with a girlfriend, the reality is I am usually too busy shuffling kids from here to there, working at my desk or trying to console a fussy 2 year old in the back seat.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to check in with my friends.  Sometimes we are reluctant to telephone friends (I just wanted to use the word telephone because it sounds so June Clever’ish) because the fear of getting ‘stuck’ on the phone.  With my okay, bye friends they know when to say when and have the ability to abruptly end the conversation, no strings attached.  Those are the ones that I can quickly call even though I have already turned onto my street and am about to need to hang up and unload.  A good okay, bye friend is worth their weight in gold.

Okay, bye.

Lengthy, relaxing phone calls? Hardly. The group has too many kids to count between them.
