Not exactly a first… but who’s counting? Technically, Britton played soccer in 1st grade but I believe the clock resets every 5 years so in theory, this week’s middle school game was a first.
Once again, Kenley was on the edge of her seat... reading.
While these two checked out what a concession stand at a soccer game is all about….
One of the (many) things I love about my girl’s school is their view on athletics, particularly at the middle school level. Middle school is a time for children to try to figure out who they are. where their interests lie, and where they perform well. That’s why, often times, kids are given the opportunity to play on sports teams that they wouldn’t necessarily be able to participate in at a larger school. Britton ran on the cross country team this Fall. Turns out it wasn’t exactly her cup of tea, but had she never been given the chance to try, how would she have known?
Thursday was the first soccer game of the season. And while we aren’t running out buying every soccer clothing piece under the sun- so far she seems to be enjoying it (and Mr. Robinson and I love playing the part of soccer parents in the bleachers — although my friend, Sarah, may need to give me some pointers on the soccer lingo).
Clear, dead ball, mark-– some many terms, so little time.
