A birthday over here, a birthday over there

A birthday over here, a birthday over there….

It’s December, let’s celebrate. Shall we? A double dose of fun the last couple days celebrating two sweet preschool gals I know. It seems to me that December would be a great month for a birthday as there is forever a theme associated with December babies. Cue the Christmas carols! Happy Birthday, Windsor and Allie Boone!

My Gingerbread Man

My Gingerbread Man

Winter break officially begins today…. and we is ready. Raynes had his Preschool Holiday Sing-Along yesterday, followed by a gingerbread party. Note the bow tie and apron. Who would’ve thunk I would have myself a bow-tie wearing boy? And one who likes to perform at that?  Uncle Matt said he looked like a red-headed Pee Wee Herman. I’m sure that’s a term of endearment. Now it’s on to last minute wrapping, few more Christmas cards to mail, poinsetta planting and Advent preparing. Ho, ho, ho.

Holly Jolly

Holly jolly, indeed.  Allie Boone’s holiday sing-along was this morning. Front and center, she felt ‘at home’ being on stage I think. Visiting with the Big Guy at the end of the show was yet another added bonus to her day.  Raynes, never to miss an opportunity to see Sassy and Pops to eat candy, snuck out his class to join in on the fun. Can you blame him?  Not to worry R, you will have your time to shine tomorrow morning.

Christmases Past

Christmases Past

Decorating for the holidays in a just-getting-settled home forces me to tweak things a little, finding new places for old treasures. Inside one of the boxes– an old Pinterest project, made from our previous family Christmas cards, that once hung across our kitchen window. Where to put it now? Initially, I just left it in the plastic storage box, because quite frankly, Christmas can too easily become overwhelming. And that’s sad- because Christmas is about the exact opposite of complicated. It’s simple. It’s not glitzy, or flashing or laser lit. So by golly, the Jesse tree is going to have a place- a place to remind us of the scriptures leading up to Advent. As is the nativity scene that never seems to have a table without being in arms-length of a little boy and the family cards that would have been much easier to leave in the box. They’re now hung on the tree- reminding us of our little family and how fleeting the time is. So I am going to make the time, the space, and the purpose.

Thanksgiving Leftovers

Sounds a little gross, right? Thanksgiving leftovers have long since gone bad… unless there are a few leftover photos laying around. And if that’s the case, than not gross… just plain ol’ late being December and all.  But such is life… a few Thanksgiving photos I found hanging around.

Mom caved and volunteered to host  Thanksgiving dinner at their home. She would have liked her guest to think she spent all day working away in her kitchen, basting the organic turkey, fluffing the perfectly tasty stuffing and baking home made pumpkin pies. When in reality, she drank a bloody mary Thanksgiving morning with her feet propped up, then drove down to Whole Foods where she was to pick up her prepared-that-day Thanksgiving feast for 20. She’s sneaky like that! But I must say their her mashed potatoes were the best ever!

Almost looks like Meme could care less about visiting with her multi-generational children. Sylvia loves her some iPad!

K has gone through a major growth having shot up in height and foot going up 3 sizes in just two months. How does that even happen? She now wears “ladies” shoes and clothing.

Short, sweet and to the point today.
