Happy Birthday, Whit

It was the never-ending birthday party that I believe lasted a total of 8 days, although Raynes might argue it went even longer than that. Big Whit finally turned four, though he still could pass for a 5 year old.  Happy Birthday, Whit! A party at a group fitness gym, Kaos, is the perfect Whitty J par-tay!

We are into our summer mode, with 3 kids at 3 different for the majority of the summer. Tomorrow I head off for my annual #MaclayGirlsWeekend trip where I meet up with middle (and elementary) friends for a weekend of immaturity, eating, sleeping and chatting. It’s one of my favorite trips that I look forward to every year, the 785 group text that we sent one another throughout the day only help to build up the anticipation.

His time has come…

As you walk up the stairwell in our foyer, you will see two rather large oil-paintings of this little guy’s older sisters. Talk about feeling like an outsider. His self-confidence is about to get a boost as his time has come and he will soon have a (smaller) painting making wall status- almost five years later. Such is the life of a third child. My talented cousin, Katie, painted Brittons while my Mom gave oil panting a stab and painted Kenleys (such hidden talent!).

Baby Adah

Baby Adah

Unlike the rest of the Kuersteiners who habitually run late, Baby Adah decided she was going to shake things up a bit and arrive a tad early. Three months early to be exact.  She has fought hard showing us all what she is made of and is out on the town now, looking as cute as cute can be at 6 months old. We hosted a ‘Sip and See’ (not to be confused with a ‘Slurp and Burp’ had she been a boy) last weekend for us to formally meet the newest (and tiniest) Kuersteiner baby. Welcome, baby Adah! Cousin Karlee has one sweet baby girl! She is quite mellow like her grand-dad (Uncle Chris– who is the exact opposite of his 11 month older brother,  my Dad who was as un-laid back as they came).

Aunt Margene has one of the best grandma names ever (at least in my book)… “Ma-Marge”. Call me crazy, but I already have my grandma name picked out… Memaw. And no, I’m not kidding.

Worms & Dirt

Worms & Dirt

Blogging has quietly and ungrudgingly taken a back seat to this thing called life. Multiple (and I mean multiple) summer camps, appointments, grocery lists, yard, swim lessons, and house chores manage to find that way to the front of the line when it comes to time spent.  I really am trying to realign my obligations and my passion by revisiting how it is they get balanced. Have ordered a couple books, joined an accountability group, and finger-crossed I will learn how to come up for air and just breathe.  In the meantime, the ol’ Canon 50D has been dusted off and lens wiped clean.  We hosted a ‘Sip and See’ for my cousin Karlee’s baby Adah, who was born three months early, and is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen.  She comes fro m long line of fighters and it was high time she had her coming out party to formally meet those who love her most in this crazy thing we call life.  As the guest were leaving and after the summer rain subsided, the boys came out of confinement in time to find a large earthworm to inspect, train, torment, play with.  Raynes has become fascinated with anything insect related often always forgetting to wash his hands afterwards and “accidently” bringing it inside. Perhaps I should start checking his pockets for rocks AND bugs?
