Happy 14th birthday, Britton

Happy 14th Birthday, to our first born Britton. It has been fourteen years filled with your creativity, curiosity, imagination, elaborate party planning, Mertastic making (don’t be embarassed B, very few know what that means), determination all swirled around with a dose of strong-will for good measure. We love you and know the future is yours for the taking! xo

Happy Birthday to you, Allie Boone

Happy Birthday to you, Allie Boone. Six years goes by in the blink of an eye. Trust me, I say this from experience little one. A whole 39 years and 9 months so I would know.

In keeping with the theme of December birthdays, December 21st is always a good one with its cookie decorating, red and green colors and generally all-around jolly mood by all.  A foul-proof party if you will. The recent Florida fall-like weather has felt more like September than December. A good ol’ fashioned backyard birthday party, complete with a pinata and tire swing.

Happy 40th “Mrs. Grant”

‘Tis true.

40 is around the corner for me– and according to Mr. Robinson, it ain’t so bad. Raynes Pre-K teacher/my friend Sarah, affectionately known as “Mrs. Grant” turned the big four-oh so this month so we celebrated the way most almost and already middle-aged women celebrate. Boarded a trolley, loaded with alcohol and carols, to drive around and look at Christmas lights while laughing and sipping wine. Turns out December birthdays are lots of fun with a built-in theme every year. As for me? I’m still in total denial that 40 will be here soon. And while I can’t be sure, I may have even seen a grey hair (or two!) today. Which immediately made me feel light-headed.  Who am I? Whose body is this? This is happening? Yes, this is happening.

Half Decade Birthday

It came, we celebrated, then we celebrated some more.  The half decade birthday. We now have a somewhat taller, always confident 5 year old, folks. The little guy went to a bowling birthday party last summer and for the past year has talked of nothing else. Who knew 4 and 5 year-olds could bowl? Raynes was not about to let me live down the fact the we celebrated his fourth birthday in an Alys Beach parking lot. When I tell you he reminded me of this no less than thirty-seven  times, I would not be exaggerating.  Insert a little Sunday afternoon bowling, for the handful of little boys in his class (which was plenty!), and finally I have redeemed myself.  Happiest of days to this sweet 5 year old that has a mind always turning, a mouth always questioning, and keeps my heart ever swelling. 10.17.11

Baby Adah

Baby Adah

Unlike the rest of the Kuersteiners who habitually run late, Baby Adah decided she was going to shake things up a bit and arrive a tad early. Three months early to be exact.  She has fought hard showing us all what she is made of and is out on the town now, looking as cute as cute can be at 6 months old. We hosted a ‘Sip and See’ (not to be confused with a ‘Slurp and Burp’ had she been a boy) last weekend for us to formally meet the newest (and tiniest) Kuersteiner baby. Welcome, baby Adah! Cousin Karlee has one sweet baby girl! She is quite mellow like her grand-dad (Uncle Chris– who is the exact opposite of his 11 month older brother,  my Dad who was as un-laid back as they came).

Aunt Margene has one of the best grandma names ever (at least in my book)… “Ma-Marge”. Call me crazy, but I already have my grandma name picked out… Memaw. And no, I’m not kidding.
