Happy Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day should be once a month, in case anyone wants to know what I think on the matter. Bi-weekly preferable.   We are going to spend the day tomorrow on the boat on a little island just off the coast. Hoping for some relaxing, resting, peace (and calm seas).  Aunt Britty and her crew will join us as our mama is away for a bit.

Here is to a wonderful and happy mother’s day to the amazing mama’s in my life.

Snapper for Supper

Snapper for Supper

The weather report called for 1-2′ seas making the opening day of snapper season optimal for taking the kids out on the boat. But, as weather is unpredictable, the winds picked up in the afternoon and it turned out to be 4′ seas with our family of five offshore ten miles. Thankfully, if we have done nothing else, we have raised our crew with sea legs and they surprisingly did not complain much. We caught our limit within an hour thanks to Captain Robinson. The Rock Bass decided they were hungry as well so we kept a few of them too.  With the assistance of Net Boy, of course.

Little Friends

Never underestimate the importance of friends. Especially the little friends.   There will come a time in the not-to-distant future when our teen and tween daughters will put up some resistance when we tell that we’re spending a week at the beach with ‘just us’ (meaning just our family). Until then we can thwart off the struggle and appreciate it when some of their little friends are at the same beach as well. Even if it is a spring break that felt more like a winter break.

Baller

We be balling on Saturdays…. lately it’s been back to the soccer fields only this time its with middle child. This is after tennis/piano/violin but before cheerleading tryouts which start this week.  She’s approaching approached that age where she doesn’t like me taking her photo anymore (clearly that hasn’t stopped me). From what I recall, if she is anything like her older sister, it is a short lived phase and pretty soon the lens will once again become a magnet for smiling faces.

Saturday called for a little bit of divide and conquer at our house with the boys veering off for a t-ball game (along with Britton who was guilted into watching her brother’s game after I reminded her how many hours he has spent at her games) while me and Kens headed to an simultaneous soccer game.  Nothing says, ‘I’m a parent’ like dragging chairs across fields with sunscreen, water and snacks in tow.

Meanwhile this little guy has been keeping his eye on the ball at the baseball fields with his buddies. He received the (weekly rotating) sportsmanship medal at Saturday’s game is hasn’t taken it off since. He proudly wore it to church yesterday- then to Costo and Old Navy. He lives a very exciting life like that. Please contact his agent for signing opportunities.

Never before seen footage

Britton brought me an old memory card and said, “you might still want this because there’s a lot of photos on it.”  Sure enough. Thankfully, these now irreplaceable photos taken in July2016 have been backed up (and backed up once more) for prosperity.   #Lifeat1259 has changed yet continues. Raynes was always thankful for an audience appreciative of his latest craft creation.  Meme, a fellow artist herself, was willing to give him the attention positive feedback he needed.  I believe we recently found a sketch book of Meme’s where on at least 32 of the pages was the same woman’s face sketched in pencil. She may not have had much variety in her subject matter but she darned sure nailed the one she drew.
