More from Christmas Breaking

The last of the photos from last year Christmas Break. Again, mostly sitting, crafting, sitting and some Poochie snuggling. It currently feels like a tundra in our town with day 5 of freezing (literally) temperatures. Guess it goes to show – be careful what you wish for. At this point, Poochie may need to have her wardrobe beefed up. Two sweaters just aren’t enough.

Nobody likes a good craft more than this guy.

There are many perks to living as one big, multi-generational family under one roof. Exhibit A: Poochie has never been cleaner. Her spa day doesn’t stop at the shampoo bowl either- she goes on for a blow out, manicure and a dental cleaning.

As if that wasn’t enough Meme has her now eating organic dog food out of… get this… a glass bowl (Mem’isms).

Oh, it’s good to be Poochie Mama.

Cutest little Havanese on the block, if I do say so myself.

A day late, and always a dollar short– this one goes out to you Poochie Mama! #NationalDogDay

At 7 years old, she still looks (and acts) like a Havanese puppy. When you weigh a hefty 4.9 lbs, it gives you a youthful appearance which works to her advantage.

Poochie has loved having not one, not two, but three animal bowls to graze from each day at the new house. And she has the pot belly to prove it.

Our neighbors have warned us that we have coyotes that live directly behind us. Mr. R had already spotted their dens. Needless to say, we have all been keeping an extra watchful eye on our favorite cat-dog when she goes outside to “do go-go’s.” What is a go-go you ask? Compliments of Sassy, who used to lay our black Poodle Puddles, and later Pooh, on the grass and instruct them to “do go-go’s.” And it worked! 30 years later and we are still using the same phrases. Thanks, Sassy! Mr. Robinson’s man card gets taken away at least twice a day as he stands on our front porch, all 6′ of him, telling his lap dog to “do go-go’s.”

He, obviously, isn’t too bothered by this minor inconvenience. Go (go), Mr. R!

No use pretending like you don’t love having this fur ball cuddled between us in the bed every night.

So many things to do, so little time.

We plan to take a break from laboring this Labor Day weekend— fingers crossed we do a little relaxin’ this holiday weekend despite having a garage full of boxes that won’t unpack themselves.

Around the House (and inside the camera)

It’s been over 5 years since I took my first photo crash course so today’s Momotography Class was long over due. Local friends, if you are looking for some easy-to-apply tips to improve your photos, I highly recommend Kira’s photography class.

Do as I say, not as I do. From what I’ve read ‘professional’ (or in my case a wanna-be) photographers typically shoot in Manual mode. Being an AV mode girl like I am, changing my shooting mode is pushing me out of my comfort zone and…. I’m liking it already!

Our class took out our cameras and took turns ‘shooting’ Kira’s sweet Dad.

Since I promised Britton the photos I took of her to “practice,”  following my class, wouldn’t end up on the blog… I reverted to household shots.  Like this new copper pot I scored at Tuesday Morning (this Saturday morning).  Thank you Mr. R for my valentines gift!

Manual mode— I made manual mode (insert Tom Hanks voice)

Perhaps I got the detail a little too well with this practice shot (or maybe I just need to vacuum again).

I love when Mr. R plans his outfit to coordinate with our throw pillows

Hello, shutter speed.

On any given day, you can find my girl taking time out from reading to sit at my desk.  Socks, and all.

Texture = black and white

B said no photos of her, but a quick practice shot of her dresser was approved.

This girl and I sleep snout to snout in my bed each night.  She nestles under my left shoulder and we fall asleep cheek to cheek.

As if a 3 hour photography class isn’t joy in and of itself, I also used a gift certificate to treat myself to a blow out. What a day, I tell you, what a day! Oh, and tonight was date night. American Sniper did not disappoint.
